New Child Protection laws that affect CBAA volunteers:
Any CBAA volunteer ages 18 and older who accepts responsibility for a CBAA player and has direct contact* with our players is defined as a mandatory reporter under Pennsylvania law:
*“Direct contact” is defined as the care, supervision, guidance or control of children and routine interaction with children. “routine interaction with children” is defined as regular and repeated contact that is integral to a person's employment or volunteer responsibilities.
As a mandatory reporter, certain clearances will be required for an individual to participate within CBAA, the following must be submitted to
prior to the start of the season. At a minimum this applies to all Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches and Managers in each program.

1. Child Abuse History clearance – CBAA will accept an already completed clearance if issued within the past five (5) years. https://www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis/public/home Cost: FREE
2. PA State Police Criminal Records Check - CBAA will accept an already completed clearance if issued within the last five (5) years. https://epatch.state.pa.us/Home.jsp Cost: FREE
3a. Volunteers who have been a continuous resident of Pennsylvania for the last 10 years, you are required to affirm in writing that you have no convictions that would disqualify you from performing your role at CBAA. 3b. Volunteers who have not been a continuous resident of Pennsylvania for the last 10 years, an FBI Criminal Background Check is required. CBAA will accept an already completed clearance during any time you were a resident of PA within the past 10 years. Note that an appointment is required and you must register before going to the fingerprint location:
